I am motivated by the belief that change is possible for all. We can have difficulty believing in ourselves. Sometimes life can derail our chosen path. When barriers to the journey of freedom are challenging for you, I can be the supportive and collaborative presence you may need to achieve your desired outcomes. I do this by utilizing a holistic approach incorporating TTM(Transtheoretical Model of Behavioural Change) coupled with Motivational Interviewing. YOU are the expert of you, and we will navigate this course of new beginnings together. In our time together, you can expect a safe, non judgmental process, where we establish a relationship of trust that supports the process of recovery based on your desired outcomes. I will respect who you are in every way including, culture, race, sexual identity, philosophical and spiritual values.
My competencies come from years of training and experiences. I was born in London, England in the late 50s, experiencing the cultural tensions of being a son to an Irish father and English mother. I served in the Canadian Armed Forces during the Cold War Era as a Stoker(marine engineer), aboard Canadian Destroyers. I became a problematic drinker in the military, and it remained with me as I reintegrated as a civilian. I had a spiritual awakening that set my life course towards sobriety and finding my call to be a support in the liberation of other’s captured by substance use. I am a ordained Minister, Life Coach and Chaplain, have extensive training in addiction recovery, and am currently enrolled in a year long program with The Addiction Academy that will lead to my certification as a Licensed Addictions Counsellor. I have served as a Recovery Support Worker with AHS, in-patient psychiatry, at St.Therese Hospital as a one-to-one worker, group therapy facilitator and Recreational Therapist. I co-lead Celebrate Recovery for several years. I am passionate about music, physical fitness and Harley Davidsons.
Let’s hop on our scoot and ride towards a new sunrise.
